📖 阅读短文

Tom used to think that learning English required long hours of study. Because of this belief, he often felt discouraged and rarely opened his textbook. One afternoon, his cousin gave him a simple suggestion: “Start with five minutes a day. Just five.”

Tom didn’t believe it would help, but he decided to try.
On the first day, he only listened to a short English audio clip. The next day, he repeated the clip and tried to imitate one sentence. Soon, five minutes turned into eight, then twelve. Without noticing, Tom found himself willing to learn more.

Three months later, Tom discovered he could understand short English videos that used to seem impossible. Even his pronunciation improved because of daily imitation practice. When his classmates asked him what secret method he used, Tom laughed, “I only changed one thing — the size of my goal.”
