Social media has transformed the way people interact with one another. While some believe that it damages real-life relationships, I partly agree with this view, as its impact depends largely on how it is used.
On the one hand, excessive reliance on social media can weaken the quality of personal relationships. Many people spend time scrolling through their phones even when they are physically together, which reduces meaningful face-to-face communication. In addition, online interactions often lack emotional depth, making relationships feel more superficial.
On the other hand, social media can also strengthen social connections when used appropriately. It allows people to stay in touch with friends and family who live far away and provides a convenient platform for sharing important moments. For individuals who are shy or introverted, online communication may even make it easier to express thoughts and maintain relationships.
In conclusion, although social media can negatively affect real-life relationships if overused, it also offers valuable opportunities for communication. Therefore, its influence should be viewed as mixed rather than entirely harmful.
